VIII. a Summary of Results. McCuskey, S. W. Abstract Analyses over the last ten years of statistical data on spectral types and photographic magnitudes in selected regions of the Milky Way are summarized in this paper. Tables and charts present the local galactic structure within 1000 parsecs of the sun and, for the B8-A0 and B5 stars, the structure to 2500 parsecs. A similar chart shows the distribution of interstellar matter to a distance of 2500 parsecs. Maximum cosmic fluctuations in the general luminosity function with longitude and with distance amount to 0.6 in log (M). The average function derived for all longitudes and for distances within 500 parsecs of the sun agrees well with the standard function published by van Rhijn.
