Abstract
A variational method is used to describe scattering states in the three-nucleon system. Using appropriate boundary conditions, the method can be applied to energis above the deuteron breakup threshold. The inclusion of long range potentials as the Coulomb interaction does not cause additional difficulties. Numerical results are given for central spin dependent forces.
