Abstract

Variational stability in analytic Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations requires that positive energy spinors remain orthogonal to all negative energy spinors that can be constructed from a finite number of basis spinors. The orthogonality constraint can be considered either by direct expansion of the relativistic basis or by the pseudopotential technique.
