Abstract

1. At the same ratio of the added base to the metal (ϰ = 1.9) the composition of the polynuclear complexes and the ratio between them strongly depend on the Al(III) aquo ion concentration in the initial solution. 2. In specimens with an Al(III) concentration of 0.1–0.4 mole/liter the bulk of the aluminum is contained in a polynuclear hydroxo complex of Al13 of the composition Al13O4-(OH)24(H2O)127+ 3. In concentrated solutions (≥1 mole/liter) an Al13 hydroxo complex is not formed and 80–90% of the aluminum is combined in polynuclear complexes corresponding in properties to sol particles. 4. Polynuclear complexes of Al13 and Alq can coexist in solutions for a long time.
