Abstract
Theoretical calculations are described that were carried out on the variation of inflow velocity induced by the rudder and on propeller blade thrust and torque fluctuations attributable to the rudder. The method used employed a vortex lattice model for the propeller and rudder. The propeller was five-bladed and without rake angle. The rudder was of the hanging type, with a streamline section.
