Abstract

A ceramic system of (Ba1−xSrx)TiO3 (BST) (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.6) has been investigated with regard to its densification, phase transition, dielectric, and DC breakdown properties. Experimental results have demonstrated that the DC breakdown strength is related with the phase transition temperature. The DC breakdown strength of the ferroelectric phase is higher than that of the paraelectric phase. The correlation between DC breakdown strength, phase transition temperature, Schottky barrier height, and space charge accumulation in this ceramic system is qualitatively discussed.
