Abstract

A sampling procedure is proposed from a study of the variation in weight, volume and diameter of sour cherry fruits determined from samples picked from various parts of the tree. Analysis of variance showed that these values varied significantly according to the level within the crown from which the samples were picked. The quarter of the tree sampled may or may not have a significant effect. Fruit weight and volume are both highly correlated with diameter, and either value may be used to estimate fruit size.
