Abstract

Fourteen provenances of lodgepole pine artificially inoculated with a local isolate of Sirococcus strobilinus varied in their susceptibility to the pathogen. Provenances from the Dry Interior (31.9%) and the Sierra (14.3%) had significantly lower disease incidence than those from the Interior Wet Belt (51.9%), the Coast (62.5%) and the Cascade Range (58.6%). These results indicate the potential for selecting seed sources with low levels of susceptibility to Sirococcus shoot blight.
