Abstract

Variation in numbers of microfilariae seen in the anterior chamber at 10 minute intervals during 2 hours, hourly during 24 hours, and with posture are described. As many as 50% of cases of microfilariae in the anterior chamber might be missed in surveys based on a single routine examination. Ocular massage and head manoeuvres would considerably decrease this figure.
