Abstract
Penetilian fonem vokal bahasa Madura ditemukan enam variasi fonem, yaitu [a, e, è, i, o, u]. Penelitian fonem vokal bahasa Jawa ditemukan sepuluh fonem vokal yang digunakan, yakni [i, I, e, ɛ, a, ə, u, U, o, ɔ]. Peneliti menemukan 40 berbedaan fonem. Hasil analisis variasi fonem ditemukan 40 perbedaan dengan rincian: (a) variasi [u] dengan [ɔ] sebanyak 7 glos, (b) variasi [i] dengan [ɛ] sebanyak 6 glos, (c) pelepasan frikatif [h] sebanyak 7 glos, (d) penambahan plosif-velar [k] sebanyak 5 glos, (e) penambahan trill-alveolar [r] sebanyak 2 glos, dan (f) perbandingan silabel sebanyak 13 glos.
