Abstract

The main objective of this research is the promotion of human rights and the democratization of the Latin American region through a new monitoring tool of the judgements of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR). The study introduces a new approach to measure the annual compliance rate of the judgements of the IACHR by analyzing direct and indirect responsibility as a new criterion of evaluation. Consecutively, this work will help to supervise the judgments of the IACHR to its member states. In addition, it is important to emphasize that the tribunal orders reparations measure when there is a violation of human rights to compensate the damage caused, and thus the importance of their respective compliance.
