Abstract

Due to the bandwidth constraint, the network inevitably induces time delay in the Internet-based control system, which will affect the performance of Internet-based closed-loop control systems such as performance degradation and system destabilization. The variable-rate sampling strategy is proposed based on the proposed dual closed-loops control architecture to overcome the uncertain transmission time-delay influencing the dynamic performance of Internet-based control systems. The local closed-loop control is running at a higher frequency to stabilize the plant, the remote closed-loop control at a lower variable-rate sampling frequency to reduce the communication load and increase the possibility of receiving data on time. To deal with large Internet time-delay and data loss fully, the time-delay compensator is designed based on predictive controller. The effectiveness of the proposed compensation strategy is illustrated by simulation study.
