Abstract

Abstract For a continuous-time systenl, a sliding sector is designed as a subspace of system state space, where some norm of the system state decreases. The continuoustime VSS control law is designed to Inove the system state from the outside to the inside of the PR-sliding sector while the norn1 keeps decreasing. In the paper. the discrete-time VSS controller for the salnpled-data systell1 is designed as an extension of the continllous-time VSS controller. The discrete-time sliding sector is defined as a subset of the continuous-tinle sliding sector. The discrete-time VSS control law is equal to the continuous-time VSS control law in every salnpling instant. It is proven that such discrete-tinle sliding sector for salnpled-data systelns exists and the proposed discrete-time VSS controller is stable if the sampling interval and the feedback coefficient are chosen suitably. Silnulation result is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed VSS controller for sanIpled-data systems.
