Abstract

Observations of the resolved stars in the Irregular galaxy NGC 2366, obtained over the ten year period from March 1984 to March 1994, are presented. Thirty separate epochs were used to search for variable stars, and a total of 13 were found, of which 6 have characteristic Cepheid light curves and colors, After correction for galactic extinction these Cepheids yield a distance modulus, m-M=27.68 +/- 0.20. This corresponds to a distance of 3.44 Mpc which places NGC 2366 in the M81 Group, as has always been assumed. (C) 1995 American Astronomical Society.
