Variable nature of Pleione

Abstract

Data on various parameters such asV/R, E/C, A, Rλ, Wλ, U, B, V have been amassed and displayed simultaneously. A detailed investigation of the long-term behaviour of Pleione has been carried out in the optical region. The most valuable findings of the present study are that the different parameters show an interesting long-term variability pattern and are well associated to each other during the course of variations. The nature of the total light curve, inB filter, over a long period of about one century (from 1885 to 1986) has been explored. The brightness variations, inV andB filters, are strongly associated to the episodes of shell outbursts.
