Abstract

1. The Bret. infixed pronouns ho (3rd pl.), he (3rd sg. f.), hon (1rst pl.) would come from a sentence particle *so- combined with the anaphorics : hon < *so-sNos, etc. — 2. The pres. 2nd pl. of the OIr. copula, adib ‘you are’ is the reflex of a zero-grade *s-te (cp. ved. stha) : *s-te, giving *te, has been only kept as a conjunct form, where it has been reanalysed as *ete (ce-nu-d-ed ‘though you are’) in connection with a preceding particle. Adib is the same form with the suffixed pronoun *ete-swes.
