Abstract
This research aims to understand the sense of humor construct development and its repercussion on 10-to-16-year-old students from school as well as its types. The participants were 376 students: 119 males and 257 females from CEGNE Santa Anita School. The Sense of Humor Scale (HSQ) was used as an instrument. The data analysis was carried out by using the SPSS 16.0 computer system. It was found, as a result, that there is no difference in types of sense of humor: affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive, and self-defeating humor on 10-to-16-year-old students. On the men and women comparison however, some differences in the type of aggressive humor were found. With reference to benevolent humor, which includes affiliative and self-enhancing types, and detrimental humor, such as aggressive and self-defeating types, it was found that adolescents practice more benevolent than detrimental humor in their relationships, at an intrapersonal and interpersonal level

Resumen La presente investigación dirige sus objetivos a comprender el desarrollo del constructo sentido del humor y su repercusión en estudiantes escolares de 10 a 16 años de edad y respecto al género. Como resultados se halló que no existen diferencias en los estilos del sentido del humor de afiliación, mejoramiento personal, agresividad y descalificación en estudiantes de 10 a 16 años, sin embargo, en la comparación entre hombres y mujeres sí se encontraron diferencias en el estilo del humor de agresividad. Al hablar del humor benevolente, el que incluye a los estilos de afiliación y mejoramiento personal y del humor perjudicial como el de agresión y descalificación, se encontró que los adolescentes demuestran más la práctica del humor benevolente que perjudicial en sus relaciones, a nivel intra e interpersonal.
