Abstract

Bubble-point vapor pressures and densities for the binary mixtures of propylene glycol monomethyl ether (PGME) and exo-tricyclo[5.2.1.02.6]decane (JP-10) were measured over the whole composition range. Antoine equation was fitted to the experimental data and the parameters were calculated. The experimental data were correlated with Wilson models with satisfactory results. The excess molar volumes for the mixtures were calculated from the density data. The flash points of the binary mixtures of PGME and JP-10 were measured by a closed-cup flash point analyzer and predicted from vapor pressures using Wilson and the regular solution models. It is found that PGME can adjust effectively the volatility and flash point of the hydrocarbon fuels.
