Abstract

A 3-year-old boy with Marfan's syndrome had heart failure for one year with mitral incompetence. The mitral valve was excised and replaced by a “Starr-Edwards” prosthesis. Typical features of mucoid degeneration of the mitral valve were present microscopically. The child has been asymptomatic for one year following operation.
