Abstract

Accelerated internationalisation may become an area of focus for latecomer focal firms with higher aspirations, flexibility and responsibility. Leadership and strategic intent seems to be key drivers of human resource development processes needed for the internationalisation, competitiveness and growth. The paper seeks to identify sub-elements of the intent, particularly values as drivers of other elements of the intent and downstream competitiveness processes. This is done by identifying key concepts, linkages among them, criteria to select a flagship firm for the case study identified. Adapting elements of SAP-LAP framework, case study facilitates to identify learning objectives. A quick benchmarking identified some key differences between current and potential levels for focal firms of Indian origin. The learning unveiled exciting areas for research exploration in practices, initiatives and outcomes.
