Abstract

One of the most difficult subjects concerning value-added taxes is the imposition of such taxes on the financial services sectors. Conventional wisdom has held that, for a variety of reasons, financial services are not conducive to value-added taxation. In the over-whelming majority of countries which currently impose a VAT, most financial service activities are exempt from the tax.
