Abstract
Objective To analyze the application value of ultrasound-guided fineneedle aspiration (US-FNA) biopsy in diagnosis of small thyroid nodule. Methods Ninety-six patients with small thyroid nodule in Zhengzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from September 2015 to September 2016 were selected, and all of them underwent US-FNA biopsy. The surgical-pathological findings and results of one-year follow-up were taken as the gold standard to analyze the diagnostic value of US-FNA biopsy in diagnosis of small thyroid nodule. Results There was no significant difference in the positive rate among US-FNA biopsy diagnosis, pathological findings and follow-up results (P>0.05). Compared with pathological findings and follow-up results which were considered as gold standard, there was no significant difference in the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy in 11-15 mm, 6-10 mm, ≤5 mm small thyroid nodules (P all >0.05). Conclusions US-FNA biopsy has higher diagnostic value for small thyroid nodule. Key words: Thyroid nodule; Ultrasound-guided; Fine-needle aspiration; Cytologic diagnosis
