Abstract
BackgroundFew simulation studies have reported holistic focus in student training sessions. This study examined nursing students’ experiences in training holistic care by employing simulation as a pedagogical approach. MethodsThe study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional design. A total of 218 nursing students responded to the Debriefing Experience Scale related to simulation training. ResultsMaking connections between theory and real-life situations appeared to be the greatest learning value in using simulation for holistic care training. A focus group interview revealed that simulation increased the students’ awareness of the importance of holistic care. ConclusionsSimulation appears to be a valuable pedagogical approach in training for holistic nursing care.
