Value Consciousness: the Rescue of University Academic Community’s Crisis

Abstract

The university is a community composed of scholars and students, committed to the cause of seeking truth. Once formed, the community has become an important position for knowledge innovation and dissemination, and a mechanism guarantee for the continuation of university spirit, such as pursuing truth, independent thinking, free criticism, and taking academic as ambition. However, the academic community of universities is facing multiple crises from both internal and external perspectives. The impetuous trend of university academic research and the anomie phenomenon in personnel training have become the direct manifestation of the crisis of university academic community. We must deeply analyze the internal value logic of university academic community, rely on value consciousness, and stimulate the benign operation of university academic community with the values of openness, inclusiveness, innovation and cooperation, so as to get rid of the crisis. From the perspective of the basic logic of university operation, this paper discusses the deep-seated value problems. This study aims to arouse the profound thinking of university administrators and university academic communities’ participants, and to guide the value return of university academic community.
