Abstract

The aim of this work was to check the performances of the UF-1000i automated urine analyzer as announced by the manufacturer. The purpose of performance verification was to evaluate repeatability, reproducibility, detection threshold, limit of quantitation, linearity, and inter-sample contamination for leucocytes, red blood cells, bacteria, cylinders and/or the epithelial cells. All tests were carried out under the conditions of ambient temperature and relative humidity recommended by the manufacturer. We began the study by calibrating the UF-1000i, and verifying its performance as announced by the manufacturer. The performance verification results of the automaton were all acceptable and in accordance with the values announced by the manufacturer. Automation enables fast results, better traceability, less risk of error and optimized technician time. The performance of UF-1000i that we have demonstrated does not prevent the automaton from limiting itself. Indeed, the identification of the types of crystals, cylinders and yeasts is only possible after microscopic examination. The data obtained encourages us to use the UF-1000i as a routine diagnostic tool in our laboratory, all the more so because these results are perfectly consistent with the clinic and are quicker to obtain.
