Abstract

SummaryHamman's syndrome is the presence of subcutaneous emphysema associated with pneumomediastinum. We describe a case occurring postpartum caused by high intra‐alveolar pressures developed during valsalva manoeuvre. Spontaneous resolution occurred over several days with conservative management. This case report highlights an unusual complication as a differential diagnosis of acute dyspnoea and chest pain postpartum and we discuss its subsequent management.
