Abstract

The study of human values is not recent, however, the analysis of its possible impact on the processes of change towards environmental management was an issue that deserves to be explored. How can individual and / or organizational values impact in these processes? To discuss this question it’s possible to mention the theories of values of sociological, psychological, transcultural and organizational tradition. The present article will present a theoretical review of the topic of human values from the organizational and social psychology, also dealing with the individual and social dimension. The human values model of Schwartz will be presented, from the individual point of view, its applications to the organizational environement and some instruments to measure these variables. In addition, a review of the main empirical studies that have attempted to demonstrate the relationships between individual values and behaviors towards the environment will be presented. In order to conclude, from the organizational dimension, briefly qualify the theory of direction by values (DpV).
