Abstract
In relation to our article, "Care of the Critically Ill Child: Management of Status Epilepticus" (Pediatrics, 44:732, 1969), it has been brought to our attention that the addition of diazepam (Valium) to sterile water results in a cloudy mixture. Since diazepam is insoluble in water and might result in an unequal dispersion of the compound, the manufacturer recommends that injectable diazepam not be diluted. For this reason, we wish that Pediatrics would modify our recommendation by stating that injectable diazepam should only be administered in the undiluted form.
