Abstract
Abstract Models for the calculation of leakage rates through cracks in vessel walls and pipes due to overpressure are analysed. For evaluation of predictive quality, the models were applied to all the accessible (water) leakage rate data for real and model cracks. The statistical description of the differences between model predictions and experimental results reveals that none of the models can be considered universally valid, even for experiments with water, when specific data from different sources are compared.
