Abstract

A number of physically important examples are presented which emphasize that in the case of static domain walls the sine-Gordon approximation is only accidentally exact. It breaks down for infinitesimal domain-wall velocities except under severe restrictions on the values of the control parameters (anisotropy fields, external fields).
