Abstract

Purpose: Rapid and accurate assessment of thoracic trauma is important to direct life-saving and definitive management. To date, in patients with traumatic lung injury, thorax trauma severity score (TTSS) has been calculated using conventational chest x-ray chest. The multirow detector computed tomography (MDCT) 64-slice scan has a significantly shorter scanning time and higher injury detection rate than conventional x-ray and single-slice thorax CT scan. We observed the role of emergency department MDCT scan of the thorax in patients with traumatic lung injury.
