Abstract

The thromboelastograph (TEG) is a viscoelastic test of hemostatic function. In the authors’ practice, this test is used for the diagnosis of coagulopathy and the guidance of transfusion therapy during cardiac surgery and liver transplantation. Recent device upgrade and reagents changes necessitated method comparison studies. Editor’s Note: These abstracts were presented at the 20th International Symposium on Critical Care & Point of Care Testing, entitled “The Value of Critical Care and Point of Care Testing: Who Benefits?” Würzburg, Germany. June 9-12, 2004.
