Abstract

Objective To validate the Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire short form (PISQ-12) in a Chinese population. Methods The PISQ-12 was translated into Chinese; 106 women with pelvic floor disorders then completed the questionnaire and the 12-item short-form health survey (SF-12). The reliability and validity of the PISQ-12 were analyzed. Results The PISQ-12 had an adequate and high internal consistency (Cronbach α = 0.725) and a high test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient coefficient = 0.745; P < 0.01). Scoring of the PISQ-12 was positively correlated with that of the SF-12 ( P < 0.01). Factor analysis showed strong construct validity. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PISQ-12 has a high reliability and validity in the Chinese population and, therefore, is highly recommended for clinical treatment and research.
