Abstract

We have validated the predictions of SAPTON, and Geant4 models QGSP-INCLXX, and SHIELDING, with the experimental charge cross-sections of 16O + Al reaction at beam energies ranging from 290 MeV/u to 1000 MeV/u. SAPTON exhibits reasonable agreement with the data compared to Geant4 models. While Geant4 favors the intra-nuclear cascade process to produce particles with charge Z ≤ 2, in abundance, SAPTON favors the breakup into projectile-like and target-like fragments, and hence shows better agreement with the data.
