Abstract

In this study, experiments were conducted to evaluate the accuracy of the pressure measurement system in a ballistic range at Tohoku University. An effect on the near-field pressure waveform by shock wave interaction with a pressure measurement plate instrumented with pressure transducers was investigated. The pressure waveform changed depending on the measurement positions on the plate. It is important to place pressure measurement positions away from the front and rear edges of the plate. In addition, pressure measurement accuracy was validated by comparison of the pressure waveforms between present and previous results. The pressure was measured at a position away from the edges of the plate. The present data corresponds well with existing experimental data. The results show that the pressure measurement system in the ballistic range at Tohoku University has the ability to accurately measure the near-field pressure waveform.
