Abstract

Tacrolimus, a Calcineurin inhibitor widely used for long-term prevention of rejection, has a narrow therapeutic window with inter and intra individual variability making therapeutic monitoring based on pre dose level mandatory. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of limited sampling strategies (LSS) developed in paediatric liver transplant patients to accurately estimate tacrolimus area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) in paediatric heart transplant recipients. In addition, we examined whether AUC correlated with known tacrolimus side effects in our pediatric population.
