Abstract

Validation of the method of analyzing Al2O3 through standard calibration methods and evaluation of its determination by a direct reading method using ICP-OES has been validated. Validation is done to determine the acceptability of the testing results because it does not use the standard method. Validation parameters consist of accuracy, precision, linearity, detection limit, quantitation limit, and estimated measurement uncertainty. Direct reading evaluation is done by comparing the Al2O3 calculated using a calibration curve with a direct reading from the ICP-OES instrument. Accuracy was determined using CRM and calculated as trueness by comparing the results of Al2O3 analysis measured by the values listed in the certificate and the results obtained 97.71%. Precision is determined by repeatability and the results are calculated as RSD and the results are 0.20% for CRM and 0.30% for bauxite samples or both less than 2%. Linearity is calculated as the coefficient of determination (R2) and the result is perfect, namely 1. The detection limit and quantization limit of the results of the calibration curve method showed that the results were 0.065mg / L and 0.23 mg / L respectively. The content of Al2O3 in the sample taking into account the uncertainty of measurement obtained the results of 44.98 ± 0.08%. The results of the evaluation of the direct reading method with t-test: Paired Two Sample for Means obtained a smaller t stat (-2.28) compared to the critical two-tail (3.18) which indicates that there is no difference between the calibration curve method and direct reading in Al2O3 testing.
