Abstract

As medical payment transitions to quality and value-based incentives, little is known about the validity of the data and metrics used to evaluate patient outcomes after elective abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair. This study is designed to validate a national administrative database (Vizient, formerly known as University Health Systems Consortium) and a national clinical dataset (Vascular Quality Initiative or VQI) against prospectively collected surgical data from a robust academic clinical practice. This study will evaluate the relationships between these variable data sources and validate their use as quality parameters for elective endovascular and open AAA repair (EVAR and OAR).
