Abstract

There is a consensus in the literature on the importance of developing phonological awareness skills for the acquisition of the learning process of reading and writing. In order to investigate the existence of characteristics that lead a child in the early grades to be classified as at risk for the development of phonological awareness skills, we need appropriate materials. This study presents the results of the development of the Screening Scale for Phonological Awareness Skills (ERHCF), to which children of both sexes, aged from 4 to 10 years, were submitted. The results showed that the ERHCF seems to be adequate and relevant for the age group that was developed, according to the registered sample.
