Abstract
Valence transition in the periodic Anderson model with the f-d Coulomb (Falikov-Kimball) interaction is investigated by using the coherent potential approximation for both the f-f and f-d Coulomb interactions. The 4f-binding energy relative to the Fermi level which is one of the central issues of the recent photoemission spectroscopy studies of Ce and its compounds is discussed based on the present theory.
