Abstract

An interpretation is given for the deviation of the Ce 4d-core X-ray absorption spectrum (XAS) in CeO 2 from those in metallic Ce compounds based on the Anderson model combined with interactions given by the Slater integrals. The approach is extended to the Ce 3d-XAS in CePd 3 and CeO 2.
