Abstract

ABSTRACT This essay is an immersion into the productive and intergenerational healing functions of what I refer to as queer of color world-making consejos (advice or lessons) from Fernanda, an aging undocumented muxer/jota, during our performative experiences visiting the colonialist landscape of Las Vegas, Nevada. The essay contributes to current theorizations about queer world-making by delving into the complex experiences and identity of a member of a largely forgotten undocumented migrant population and illustrating how consejos are intricate, active, and deterritorializing world-making tactical-strategies that help us confront quotidian violence.
