Abstract

Background: Vaginal stents are used to prevent vaginal stenosis in patients requiring vaginoplasty for vaginal anomalies and strictures. Providers are using a variety of medical devices including foley catheters, condoms with packing, tracheobronchial stents and custom or commercial stents as vaginal stents. The purpose of this study is to describe strengths and weaknesses of available vaginal stents as well explore characteristics for an ideal vaginal stent.
