Abstract

Background: Vagal nerve stimulation attenuates cardiac remodeling and improves survival after myocardial infarction. However, its precise mechanisms responsible for cardiac remodeling are unknown. Recently we have shown the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the pathogenesis of cardiac remodeling. Herein, we hypothesized that acute vagal nerve stimulation attenuates ROS production in failing heart.
