Abstract
A measurement of the electronic transition moment variation for the N 2(a' 1Σ − uX 1Σ + g) band system has allowed a reassessment of the radiative lifetime of N 2(a′). Relaxation to N 2(a′,υ=0) is established as the major channel for quenching of N 2(a 1Π g, υ = 0) molecules by Ar.
