Abstract

A high-intensity proton injector (IPHI) prototype is operating at CEA-Saclay. It will provide eventually a 1 MW proton beam with a reliability of 95%. This paper describes the different parts of the project as well as the technological options in relation with the vacuum pumping system to reach the required pressure of 2×10 −5 Pa.
