Abstract
Let (A(O),54,α) be a theory of local observables and let A denote the C*-algebra of quasilocal observables. Assume that every representation of A which satisfies the spectrum condition is type I. Then if (π,H) is an irreducible representation of A which satisfies the spectrum condition there exists a unique vacuum state asociated with (π,H) by large spacelike translations.
