Abstract
A vacuum method for the adaptation of baseplate materials on dental casts was developed and compared to the conventional method of manual adaptation. A statistically significant time economy was the result of the vacuum method used in baseplate adaptation. The Model B SAM Contourator was employed to demonstrate the degree of adaptation provided by the test procedures. More intimate adaptation of the baseplate material to the cast and to the test die was obtained when the vacuum method was employed as compared with the manual techniques.
