Vaccination in Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders

Abstract

Primary immunodeficiency disorders (PID) are heterogeneous group of an abnormality in innate and adoptive immune system. Patients with disorders are susceptible to life-threatening infections. Control of infection is an important strategy for improved quality of life and prognosis. Prophylaxis with intravenous immunoglobulin and antibiotic therapy for a long time is an appropriate option for many of patients with PID. But vaccination in immunocompromised patients may play a specific role with different outcomes. There are different results after administration of vaccines in patients depends of type of the PID. In some cases immune response is complete and protection is well. however in another patient, immune response is impaired and vaccination is ineffective or even could leads to severe overwhelming disease. To date there is not a well-established guideline about vaccination of immunocompromise people. In this review we are going to describe the latest recommendations for immunization of patients with PID based on published literatures.
