Kilmartin, Pamela M. ; Bradstreet, David H. ; Koch, Robert H. Abstract The first photoelectric light curves of the contact binary V677 Cen show the system to be a completely eclipsing one. The mass and radius ratios between the component stars are far from unity and the analysis of the light curves is satisfactorily determinate. In distinction to most binaries of comparably short period, V677 Cen shows no temperature difference between the member stars, at least at the time of the present light curves. Main-sequence radius and mass values for the member stars are considered and rejected. An interpretation that recognizes the similarity of the system to FG Hya and describes it as a nearly limiting A type contact binary is also shown to have difficulties.
